♥ I LOVE Spring Weddings!!!

Here is a pretty sneak peek from Steve + Amanda’s wedding at the Gramercy Mansion in Baltimore, MD. It rained most of the day so we were really lucky to get a few moments in the garden (though it felt more like a swamp) with some pretty light. The last image is probably my favorite. I just love the light purple flowers that were in bloom!!! I am seriously IN LOVE with Amanda’s dress…it’s so beautiful!!!!

I had such a lovely time photographing this wedding at Oregon Ridge Park in Maryland!!! The weather was perfect and so were the Bride + Groom. I’ll have to update the vendor information for this wedding soon but I can’t wait that long to share the photos!!! ♥ Jamie + Eric were brilliant to plan their wedding in the Concert Shell at the park. It was a super windy day but the shell gave them protection from that without feeling like an indoor space. Their guests had a beautiful view of the park hillside, plenty of sunshine, and that perfect spring air that classifies a May wedding. The Lodge was just a few feet away and provided a nice open space for their reception. The dark wood and giant fireplace gave it such a cozy, rustic feel. I loved the lights that hung above all the giant windows too!

One of the best parts about this wedding (selfishly for me, eeek!) was that Jamie + Eric decided to see each other before the ceremony. This meant we had a ton of time during some of the prettiest light of the day for Bride + Groom portraits! You’ll see they have quite the variety of backdrops and locations (all within steps of the lodge). The wedding party photos were all done before the ceremony as well. I liked that they kept their family formals planned for afterwards though. They both felt like this kept an element of the traditional build up you experience at a wedding where the bride and groom wait to see each other. This way, their extended family members didn’t see them all dolled up until Jamie walked down the isle. The best of both worlds if you ask me!

Look at that beautiful cake by Angela Cassano!!! I just adore the simple design and colors.

Their first dance was BEAUTIFUL!!! Eric started by walking Jamie around the entire dance floor…showing off his gorgeous new wife to the room. They moved lightly together as if they had danced this very one a million times already. I couldn’t have asked for prettier lighting either.

Jamie stayed up until 2am the night before her wedding to finish the life size polaroid style frame. Guests were having so much fun throughout the reception taking photos with their friends and of course with the Bride + Groom. Eric’s grandfather even posed for a photo behind the frame after breakin’ it down on the dance floor. ♥

I seriously love Jamie’s gold glitter TOMS!!! They looked adorable with her tea length dress, mimicked the glitter heals she had on earlier, and kept her on the dance floor comfortably all night. ♥ If you want to stay comfy too, click here!!!

How sweet is this family below? I love their accent colors against the texture and variety of the French Quarter backdrop. We had so much fun walking around this warm sunny day. The weather was so nice we decided to stop at Cafe du Monde to finish the session up with some tasty beignets!

Felice is an artist. I’ve seen her paintings and they are lovely…but it doesn’t stop there. When she contacted me with the idea for this photoshoot I fell in love. Pointe shoes in the city? Um, yes please. The weather was a bit of a challenge, it was windy…really windy. I have to give credit to that fact for the beauty of so many of these images. It’s as if Mother Nature was dancing with her. The wind was mixing and mingling with the lines and expressions that Felice was putting forth and the results are truly stunning. I just love the combination of her elegant movement and the clean, systematic setting. I hope you enjoy!

The image below is one of my favorites from the session! I love how the wind seems to be carrying her away. It really did force the umbrella inside out.

Nick + Sarah had a beautiful afternoon wedding in New Orleans this past March. It was an early start and I loved how that meant they’d be able to enjoy the whole day as Husband and Wife, rather than just the last few hours of the night. Latrobe’s on Royal  is a wonderful venue with ceremony + reception space. Did I mention that their food is AMAZING!!! Really. As with many “traditional” New Orleans’ weddings, this one ended with a second line. All the pieces fell into place beautifully and I felt so honored to save the memory of the day.

I love photographing weddings and this wedding at Race and Religious New Orleans is no exception! I do realize the smiles + happy tears are not for me…they are of course for the bride and groom. Regardless, who wouldn’t love being surrounded by so many outward displays of happiness?! My job really rocks.

This March wedding was full of a bagillion DIY projects including lace bunting, potted take home herbs, and homemade chocolate chip cookies!!! (PS: Kathryn, the bride, bakes the meanest chocolate chip cookie. ever.)

Kathryn + Chris are both actors from New York. Needless to say they had some colorful friends and family in attendance at their wedding and it made for some great portraits. One of the great things about Race and Religious is that it’s an all encompassing venue. There is ample space (and it’s all gorgeous!) to get ready, have your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place. History breathes in and out of every brick in this place. I can not wait for Rachel + Thom’s wedding in November! Their engagement session yesterday was a wonderful mix of fun and traditional photographs. We started at the Audubon Zoo, which was a bit more crowded than we had expected for the middle of a Friday afternoon, and then finished up with a splash of color under the gorgeous oak trees in the park. There are so many great images from the day, I can’t wait to share more! I hope your weekends are as colorful and fun as this sneak peek.

I LOOOOOVE this family! I’ve been saving memories for them since Sarah was pregnant with Drew and today got to see the little guy all grown up to two! (I’ve been reading a little too much Dr. Seuss lately.) He was so much fun to photograph this time around, not camera shy at all and talking. It’s amazing how much personality a 2 year old can have. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek below…can we say LIGHT!? It was GORGEOUS out today…my apartment windows have been open the past 4 days now. ♥
